Playful Plectrums
2 – 4 years | Tuesdays at 10 am
Enjoy a lively session of musical storytelling and classic nursery rhymes with your toddler, with an early introduction to drums and ukulele.
Each week, the children go on a different musical adventure: take a trip to an imaginary zoo, the beach, or a jungle, and sing songs while exploring the instruments and sounds they can make.
All of this helps children develop a sense of pulse, rhythm, and pitch, and teaches sound as an art form and its creative possibilities.

Barry De Jager
Barry is a dad of five and runs our Little Jams sessions and teaches ukulele and guitar classes for kids. Since 2021, he has helped our youngest musicians take their first steps into music.
Darryl Powis
Darryl founded KitchenJam with his wife, Jennifer, back in 2014 and plays drums alongside Barry at our Tiny Headliners baby concerts.
With two little ones of his own, Darryl has spent years helping families discover the joy of music together.

FAQs
Can I bring a sibling to the session?
Yes! Tiny Headliners tickets are per adult, so if you have more than one child under 2, you can bring them all along on the same ticket.
If you’re bringing an older sibling aged 2-4, you may find our Playful Plectrums class more suitable. You can book the older child onto Playful Plectrums and bring their younger sibling under 2 along with them for free.
Can I bring more than one adult?
Your ticket is for one adult and child. If you would like to reserve a space for another adult you'll need to buy a second ticket.
We love that you might want to bring your partner or parents along, but when it gets busy we have to make sure that there is still space for all the reserved attendees.
If you have bought a ticket for each adult attending then that ensures you'll get your spot!

Is the venue accessible?
Yes. KitchenJam Stratford has step-free access throughout, an accessible bathroom with baby-changing facilities, and limited space to store buggies.
Can I bring a pram or buggy?
Yes, although buggy space can get quite full on busier days. If you’re able to bring a baby carrier instead, that can sometimes be easier. If you do need to bring a buggy, arriving a little early is a good idea.
Can I feed or change my baby during the session?
Of course. You’re welcome to feed your baby whenever you need to during the session. If they need changing, baby changing facilities are available in the toilets.
What if my baby cries or needs a break?
Don’t worry, you can step out whenever you need to. There’s a comfortable waiting area just outside the teaching room if you’d like a quieter space for a few minutes.
Can I bring my own instrument?
Absolutely! But we do provide enough ukuleles for the toddlers and plenty of scarves, musical instruments for all the babies who come too.
