About Sam

Sam has more than 25 years of professional experience building and repairing instruments.


Through East London Guitar Repair, he has worked on thousands of guitars, from everyday instruments to guitars played by some of the biggest names in music.


Sam brings his experience to every session, guiding each person through the setup of their own instrument and explaining the thinking behind the work as they go.

FAQs

  • Do I need any experience with guitar setup or maintenance?

    Not at all. The workshop is designed to guide you through the setup process step by step, so you don’t need any previous experience working on guitars.

  • What should I bring to the workshop?

    Just bring the guitar you’ll be working on. If you have a particular brand or gauge of strings you like to use, bring a set with you too. 


    We can provide strings if needed, but they may not be your usual brand.

  • Do I need to bring any tools with me?

    No, we’ll have all the tools you need here for the workshop.

  • What guitars can I bring?

    This depends on the workshop you’re booking. Our acoustic workshop is for acoustic guitars, while our standard electric workshop is suitable for electric guitars with a fixed bridge or Strat-style tremolo, as well as bass guitars. 


    Guitars with a Floyd Rose-style tremolo need a different setup technique, so we run a separate workshop for these.

  • Can teenagers attend the workshop?

    The workshop is recommended for ages 18+. Teenagers aged 13+ may be able to attend with a parent or guardian, so please get in touch with us before booking.
