January Beginner Course

For someone who's always said they'd learn guitar.

Eight 90-minute sessions over four weeks at Canary Wharf, Mondays and Fridays from 6pm to 7.30pm, starting Monday 4 January, with the next group from Monday 1 February. It's for adults (18+), in a small group of eight. Guitars are provided, and nobody needs to have played before. Darryl, who runs KitchenJam, teaches it himself. The voucher covers the whole course.

Backed by our First Song Promise: if they can't play a whole song with the group at their last session, they choose their money back or a free place in the next group. See the terms.

A first month of sessions

A month of KitchenJam membership: up to five 60-minute sessions, playing with other people from the very first one. At Canary Wharf or Stratford. They email us the code when they're ready, and we set up their month.

Guitar Setup Workshop

For anyone whose guitar has been sitting in the corner.

One Friday evening, 7pm to 10pm, at a workbench in our Canary Wharf studio, learning to set up their own guitar so it plays properly. There are electric, acoustic and Floyd Rose dates through 2027, with six places at each.

Recording Camp Weekend

For a player who can already get through a few songs.

Two afternoons in our Canary Wharf studio with a band of KitchenJam guitarists, Saturday and Sunday from 3pm to 8pm. We send three songs to get ready at home, the band learns four more on Saturday, and on Sunday the red light goes on and they record all seven live. They go home with a seven-song live record they played on. Camps run on 6 and 7 February and on 10 and 11 April, with eight places each. Adults only.

If they're a KitchenJam member, the camp costs them £250 and the other £100 stays on the voucher for something else.

Attend a Band workshop

For a friend who plays.

An afternoon learning songs by one band, then playing them together as a band. There's a different band every month at Canary Wharf and Stratford, starting with The Clash on Saturday 16 January.

How it works

  1. Choose a gift and pay online.
  2. The voucher code arrives by email straight away.
  3. Print our gift card, write the code in, and put it in a Christmas card. Download the gift card (PDF)
  4. They use the code when they book, any time before the end of 2027.

Questions

  • When does the voucher run out?

    On 31 December 2027.

  • Can they spend it on something else?

    Yes. Every voucher works on any KitchenJam workshop, camp or course, and anything left over stays on the code.

  • Is there a last day to buy?

    No. Vouchers come by email, so you can buy one on Christmas Eve and still have it on the day.

  • What if they can't make the dates?

    They choose their own date when they book, and there are new dates all through 2027. For the beginner course, if neither January nor February suits, email hello@kitchenjam.com and we'll book them into a later group.

  • What about the First Song Promise?

    It covers gift places too. If they choose their money back, the refund goes to the person who bought the voucher, on the card they paid with.

  • Anything else?

Got a voucher?

Someone's given you a KitchenJam voucher. For the beginner course, tap "Use ticket access code" on the course page for the January group or the February group, enter GIFTCOURSE, choose "Gift voucher (whole course)", then pay with your voucher code. For a workshop or the recording camp, choose your date and enter the voucher code at checkout. For a month of sessions, email the code to hello@kitchenjam.com and we'll set up your first month.
